Escape to Paradise: Uncover the Hidden Gem of Villa Bellagio, Amboise
Hold On To Your Berets! My Escape to Paradise (And Why You Should Too)
Okay, alright, so I just survived (in the best way possible!) a stay at Villa Bellagio, Amboise. And "survived" might even be an understatement. Think more… ascended. I'm talking about a place that's so beautiful, so meticulously curated, it almost feels like a dream. But before I get ahead of myself, let's ditch the travel brochure fluff and get REAL, because let's be honest, you want the truth.
First things first: Accessibility and the Tech Savvy (aka the boring bits…but super important!).
Let's talk about getting here. The Villa scores big points with the airport transfer – a lifesaver after a transatlantic flight. Accessibility? They claim to cater to facilities for disabled guests, but I didn't explore this to the fullest. However, the elevator gave me hope! Car park [on-site] and Car park [free of charge] are a massive bonus because seriously, driving in France is an adventure in itself. Internet? Okay, listen up, Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! is basically heaven sent. I spent my days posting Instas and Tweeting and my evenings streaming movies – the Internet [LAN] option is clutch for heavy users of bandwidth.
Now, Let's Talk About Heaven (aka The Food and Drink!):
Okay, the food. Seriously, the food. Where do I even begin? Forget bland hotel breakfasts! The Breakfast [buffet]… it was an experience. Yes, the typical Asian breakfast and Western breakfast were included. But for me, the coffee/tea in restaurant was an daily blessing and the options, the options! Omelets cooked to order, pastries that practically melted in your mouth, and fresh fruit that tasted like sunshine. They even cater for Vegetarian restaurant which is a plus.
Then came dinner. The A la carte in restaurant was a must. I tried the International cuisine in restaurant and was absolutely amazed ! Then there's the Poolside bar where I spent a few happy hours sipping cocktails… happy hour at its finest! Honestly, I could have happily camped out at the Snack bar and lived off their delicious bites all day. The Happy hour cocktails were the perfect way to end a day.
Rambling a bit… but bear with me… on my Room and the Feeling of Freedom!
My room? Oh my god, my room. I'm talking Air conditioning, thank god. I chose the Non-smoking option (phew!) Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, screamed luxury. The extra long bed felt like sleeping on a cloud. I took advantage of the amazing bathrobes and slippers. They have a Coffee/tea maker, which I used constantly. The Private bathroom was spacious but I loved the separate shower/bathtub. The Blackout curtains are definitely worth it too!
But It's Not All Perfect, Darling… (the realness).
Here’s the catch, because nothing's ever perfect (and who wants perfect anyway?). While they do a fantastic job with Cleanliness and safety, the place is almost too pristine. It's great in principle, with Anti-viral cleaning products, Rooms sanitized between stays, and Staff trained in safety protocol – but sometimes, it felt… sterile. I missed the lived-in feel a little. On the other hand the Daily disinfection in common areas left me less concerned.
Spas, Pools and all that Jazz!
Let's get to what you really want to know: relaxation. YES. YES. YES. The Swimming pool is glorious. The Pool with a view with lots of views. I would have loved to take a Sauna and Steamroom, but a long day of touring drained my energy.
More Rambles (and a little bit about the staff!):
The staff deserve a standing ovation. The Concierge was a fountain of local knowledge (and restaurant recommendations – crucial!). They were also absolutely amazing when it came to my minor melt-down about forgetting my phone charger! There's also the Room service [24-hour], which, after a long day exploring the chateux, was exactly what the doctor ordered (and conveniently, the Doctor/nurse on call was a great backup!).
Some minor things:
The Fitness center. I did not visit on my stay. The Audio-visual equipment for special events I did not witness. The Business facilities. I did not have the pleasure of using
So, What's the Verdict? Escape to Paradise? Absolutely.

Escape to Paradise: Ponta do Madeiro's Hidden Hotel GemAlright, buckle up, buttercups, 'cause we're about to embark on a glorious, messy adventure to Villa Bellagio in Amboise, France. Forget those perfectly curated Instagram itineraries – this is the real deal, warts and all. Prepare for a rollercoaster of emotions, questionable decisions, and enough French-ness to make your baguette explode.
Day 1: Arrival & Utter French Confusion (and a LOT of Wine)
- 1 PM: Arrive at Charles de Gaulle, Paris. Okay, so, first disaster. Apparently, my attempt at speaking French to the customs officer resulted in a blank stare and a slow head shake. "Oui?" I asked. "Non," he grunted. "Next!" Great start. Already feeling like a complete buffoon.
- 3 PM: Shuttling to Amboise. The train ride was beautiful. Absolutely stunning. Rolling hills, charming villages… until I realized I'd forgotten my noise-canceling headphones. Cue the loud French family, which actually I was very happy, but not completely ready.
- 5 PM: Villa Bellagio Check-in. The website promised "rustic charm." What actually greeted me was a seriously beautiful villa, looking like a painting. The owner, a woman named Madame Dubois (who, by the way, has eyes that could pierce steel) greeted me with a kiss on each cheek. Instant cultural immersion! I awkwardly kissed back. I think I might have knocked over a vase. Sorry Madame Dubois.
- 7 PM: Wine Tasting. (Oh, Glorious Wine!) The villa has a cellar. A real cellar. And the wine? OH MY GOD. Someone needs to ship me cases of this stuff. The Sancerre was like liquid sunshine. I might have forgotten to pace myself. And by might, I mean I absolutely did. We are not at the vineyard, yet.
- 9 PM: Dinner at the Villa. (Slightly tipsy and very full). Madame Dubois cooked. Seriously, someone give this woman a Michelin star. The duck confit. The cheese. The bread. Forget Paris – I could live off this food forever. I kept trying to tell Madame Dubois how incredible it all was, but my French was… well, let's just say it involved a lot of pointing and enthusiastic nodding.
Day 2: Castles, Catcalls, and Culinary Chaos
- 9 AM - AMBOISE CASTLE: The Amboise Castle is a must-see, its history and the views are nothing short of spectacular. The audio tour was actually hilarious; the voice was so dramatic. Plus, I learned that Leonardo da Vinci had a little pad here at the end of his life. Cool beans.
- 12 PM - CHÂTEAU DE CHENONCEAU: This castle is right on the water. It's a real-life fairytale. The gardens were beyond gorgeous. I took about a hundred photos, mostly of the bridges and reflections. I also may or may not have gotten catcalled by a particularly enthusiastic (and very old) gentleman. "Très jolie, mademoiselle!" It was ridiculous. I loved it.
- 3 PM - LUNCH AT CHENEAUX: I'd gotten this idea to eat at a little cafe. The food was great, but a nearby picnic got me jealous. Like, so jealous. I think the lady had a full charcuterie board and a bottle of rose. Next time, I'm prepared.
- 7 PM - COOKING CLASS!!!! I was ecstatic. I loved the idea of having a cooking class. I signed up for it. The class… well, it started off promising. We were making souffles. I am not kidding when the teacher looked at me with sadness… We were all going to taste our perfect souffles. Well, I put mine in the oven and forgot about it! Burned to a crisp! I was devastated. But, the memory lives on.
Day 3: Da Vinci, Markets, and Goodbye (Sob!)
- 10 AM: Clos Lucé – Leonardo da Vinci's final home. Okay, so this place is seriously moving. You can practically feel the genius pulsing through the walls. The models of his inventions were mind-blowing. I spent way too long staring at the Mona Lisa copy (a much-needed reminder to go). I wish I had been a student of his.
- 1 PM: Amboise Market. This market was pure sensory overload. Cheese, bread, pastries, flowers, and enough people to make you dizzy. The smell of fresh baked goods was heaven. I bought a ridiculously large baguette, a kilo cheese, and enough macarons to last a week. (Spoiler alert: they didn't.)
- 4 PM: Goodbye to Villa Bellagio. Here comes the sads. This villa has been my haven. The warmth of Madame Dubois, the incredible food, the wine… I'm truly going to miss this place. I'm already planning my return trip, and this time, I'm bringing a bigger suitcase for all the cheese.
Day 4: Leaving France
- 8 am: A final croissant. A pastry shop.
- 10am: Train to Paris. A last look at the scenery.
- 1pm: Fly home. Back to reality.
- 6pm: Home. Dreaming of Cheese.
Final Thoughts:
This trip wasn't perfect. I made a fool of myself more than once. I ate too much cheese. I forgot my noise-canceling headphones. But it was honest. Incredible. And I wouldn't trade it for anything. France, you magnificent, messy, beautiful beast. I'll be back. Prepare yourself.
Dubai's Hidden Gem: Millennium Lakeview Hotel - Unforgettable Stay!Okay, so *what* is Villa Bellagio, anyway? Is it, like, a castle? I'm picturing a gargoyle...
Alright, picture this: you're dreaming of a fairytale. Okay, maybe not a *gargoyle* (though the gardens could totally handle one). Villa Bellagio? It's THAT. It's in Amboise, smack-dab in the Loire Valley, so yeah, castles are kinda the thing. But it's a freaking GORGEOUS, elegant villa. Think sun-drenched stone, ridiculously pretty gardens sloping down to the Loire River (which, by the way, is the most romantic thing ever in the morning mist, just sayin'), and views that make you want to weep with joy. No, no gargoyles. Unless *I* start acting like one from sheer amazement.
Is it actually *hidden*? Because I can't find it on my map app. Is it haunted? Spill the tea!
"Hidden Gem" is a bit of dramatic license, but it certainly FELT hidden until I got there. It's not, like, in a cave behind a waterfall. It's just… tucked away, offering this sense of privacy and serenity. And haunted? I didn't sense any ghosts, *thank God*. Though, honestly, after enough rosé, *I* might have started seeing things. The tea? The tea is that the real hidden treasure *is* the feeling of being completely away from it all. Except, maybe there IS a hint of spookiness, let me tell you. Like, when I was wandering around the gardens at night... the shadows and all of the perfectly pruned bushes. It's so eerie! Okay, moving on....
Am I gonna be bored there? I'm a city person. Is there, like, Wi-Fi at least?
Bored??? Oh, honey, no. But...yes, there's Wi-Fi. Thank GOD, because Instagram doesn't document itself. Haha. Okay, hear me out, city slicker. You *think* you need the hustle and bustle, the non-stop noise... but trust me. Villa Bellagio is the cure. You'll actually *learn* to appreciate the sound of birds chirping. And yeah, there are things to DO. Day trips to other glorious castles (Chenonceau! Chambord! Ugh, my Instagram feed exploded), wine tasting (duh), exploring the charming town of Amboise… But also... the best thing to do there is... NOTHING. Just... sit, breathe, and *be*. Don't worry. When you're feeling stressed, just go back to your room and have a delicious bottle of wine, or get in bed and drink it while watching something on your laptop. The lack of stimulation can be really, REALLY freeing.
What's the food like? I'm a foodie. Please tell me it's not just croissants.
Croissants are definitely involved. And they are AMAZING. Flaky, buttery, perfect with strong coffee on the balcony. But no, it's not *just* croissants. The breakfast spread is a work of art (seriously, someone needs to paint the fruit platters.) And the dinners? Oh, the dinners. Locally sourced, fresh, and absolutely divine. One night, I swear, I ate the best duck confit of my life. And the wine pairings? Unbelievable. They really know their stuff. I gained, like, five pounds. Worth it. Absolutely worth it. Okay, I'm drooling. I need a croissant. Seriously.
The rooms... are they chic? I'm very particular... and I bet it's expensive.
Chic? Please. Think: elegance meets utter comfort. Think: big fluffy beds, views that will stop your heart, and bathrooms that are prettier than my actual living room. Yes, it's an investment. You're not going to find bargain basement prices, but trust me, it's worth every single bloody penny. Think of it as an investment in your sanity. And, let's be real, yourself, and if you have the money, it's just worth it. Okay, and now, getting to the rooms...I stayed in the room with the balcony overlooking the gardens. And the river. And the castle. It was insane. I sat there, for *hours*, just drinking in the view, reading a book (or pretending to, mostly I was just staring). The bathroom? Marble. Seriously. *Marble*. And the bathtub... Oh god, the bathtub. Big enough for two, perfectly shaped, and the best damn bath I have ever taken. Okay, back to reality, though.
What's the staff like? Overly formal? Or actually helpful?
Nope, not overly formal! They're fantastic. They are the PERFECT blend of professional and friendly. They're attentive, without being intrusive. They anticipate your needs (like, they *knew* I'd need extra coffee in the morning...), and they're full of helpful recommendations. One day I had a minor dress emergency (don't ask, it involved a rogue zipper and panic...) and the lovely woman at the front desk? Fixed it in five minutes flat. Absolute lifesavers, all of them. I genuinely felt like they cared. And I appreciated it more than words can saw.
Okay, you seem obsessed. Any downsides? Come on, there has to be *something* you didn't love.
Okay, fine. Yes. ONE small, ridiculously nit-picky (and I mean *ridiculously*) downside. The Wi-Fi, in some rooms, can be a little…weak. Really, that's it. Oh - and the fact that I had to leave. Leaving was brutal. I genuinely considered faking my death and staying forever. Apart from that...nope. Literally nothing. I'm still dreaming about that damn duck confit.
Would you go back? And would you recommend it to, like, a normal person?
Would I go back? Are you kidding me? I'm already planning my return. And yes, I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who needs a seriously good dose of peace, beauty, and deliciousness. Sure, it is more of a vacation for those who are okay with spending more, but you deserve it. You should. Go. Just… go. But maybe don't take my room. 😉 Seriously, go. You won't regret it. Actually, wait. Maybe *don't* go. That way it will be available for me next time. Okay, I'm kidding! Go! And if you see me there, buy me a croissant. Deal?
